3332 Hegemony Threat

[History, War]

The year 3332 was a new threat to the Society of Cogwerk Planets (SoCP), as well as with the excuse concocted over the previous three years, the Hegemony restarted its aggressive expansionist policy, alleging the excuse of pacifying the border revolt between the sectors of Hegemony and those of SoCP.

The very convenient sexual scandal that related the Hegemony Legatus and Chief Staff of the Illyrian Legions, General Malthus Necrutius with numerous wives of senators, supposed his immediate deposition and the rise of the Head of the Patrician House Strategoi, Scipio Aemilianus, to power as the new Commander in Chief.
Scipio Aemilianus, Head of House Strategoi
Legatus Scipio, well known for his expansionist zeal, soon deployed a large army threatening the SoCP, while SoCP did the same for his defense.

However, while the various forces took positions threatening to unleash a new war on a large scale between both Great Powers, the Galactic Senate bet on a pragmatic solution, ordering both powers to a withdrawal of forces and summoning the Mercenary Clans to  verify said retreat.

The mercenary clans concurred once again to the call of the Galactic Senate (or the best payer) and pressed the army of Aemilianus, without being able to prevent the skirmishes from becoming a battle, in which General Scipio was forced to retreat after what the military analysts soon described as a humiliating defeat.

Throughout the year 3333, the Legatus maintained the prey, by means of a ferocious deployment of forces and trying to keep the control of the occupied zones by means of an anvil and hammer strategy, in which mobile units (the hammer) faced the mercenary clans that helped SoCP, would make a tactical retreat, drawing them towards the bulk of Scipio's army (the anvil) where the Mercenary would theoretically be crushed.

This strategy failed, concluding in a chaotic battle in which the armies of the Hegemony had to retreat, giving up some of the occupied areas.

The year 3334 brought a period of skirmishes, while both forces, Illyrians and Cogwerk, tried to strengthen their positions and recover from the losses suffered, but without ending the conflict.
